Dimensions:
A fine and very unusual mid-18th century mahogany serpentine chest of uniquely small proportions. The figured veneered top with four graduated drawers below and flanked by bold stop-fluted canted columns . The generously shaped sides also covered in a single figured sheet of veneer. The whole resting on bracket feet and retaining excellent original surface and colour throughout. The oak-lined drawers fitted with original brass plate handles and locks.
In our opinion this is one of the earliest and smallest examples of a Chippendale period serpentine chest. The laminated corner blocks and pink wash underneath are possibly attributable to the work of Thomas Chippendale.
